The Evolution of Boko Haram: A Human Rights Perspective
Date: February 26, 2015, 4:00pm – 5:30pm
Location: NYU Woolworth Building, 15 Barclay St, Room 217
Join The Human Rights and International Law League (THRILL), as we welcome two distinguished guests from Human Rights Watch to help us explore the origins of Boko Haram, the ideologies they claim to espouse, the tactics they have used, and the related human rights implications. We hope additionally to discuss what is currently being done to stem the tide of human rights abuses, and what future advocacy strategies would, or should look like given the complex reality of the issue.
Guest Speakers:
Ms. Rona Peligal, Deputy Director of the Africa Division of Human Rights Watch
Ms. Mausi Segun, Nigeria Researcher, Human Rights Watch
