The Home for Cooperation announces vacancies for the positions of the Operations Officer and Communications Officer. 

The Home for Cooperation project, sponsored by the EEA/Norway Grants, seeks to recruit dynamic and self-motivated individuals to contribute in the sustainable development and running of programs and activities within the UN Buffer Zone, Nicosia. As a community centre it aims to facilitate cooperation, interaction, dialogue and communication between people of all ethnic, religious and social backgrounds.  

The Communications Officer (full time) role will primarily execute the overall communication strategy of the Home for Cooperation project. The main responsibility is to ensure that all programs are implemented successfully and are communicated in the most effective manner to the Greek and Turkish Cypriot communities.

The Operations Officer (full time) role will primarily comprise of administration and book-keeping duties. The Operations Officer will be the main point of contact with all internal and external stakeholders related to financial matters.

TERMS OF REFERENCE

Position:  Communications Officer

Reports To: Home for Cooperation Manager

Working Hours:40 Hours/Week (Full-time)

Salary: €1,256 Gross Salary

General Duties and Responsibilities:

The Communications Officer will execute the overall communication strategy of the Home for Cooperation project, hereby known as the Home as guided by and in cooperation with his/her manager. The main responsibility is to ensure that all programs are communicated in the most effective way to the Greek and Turkish Cypriot communities. As part of the Home team the Communication Officer will be responsible for finalising the planning of the Friends of the Home initiative, and build a new network of partners.  

His/her activities will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Collaboration with his/her Manager in delivering the strategic planning based on the budget allocation of the outreach initiatives.
  • Handle press, visits, and public relations in consultation with the Manager and Governing Board of the Home.
  • Make new partnerships and create new opportunities through network and program planning together with Program Officer and Manager.
  • Ensure successful dissemination of all programs across all stakeholders for all functions; café, bookings, events, workshops, H4C TV, merchandise and souvenirs.
  • Create a six month program of activities in and around the Home and produce an information pamphlet for circulation.
  • Responsible for the implementation of the promotion of all internal and external events through all social media, online and offline channels of communication.
  • Overseeing the organization, program and planning of events undertaking the necessary administrative functions related to the task, including budgeting procedures.
  • Coordinating the timeline and communications with the relevant bodies for the continuation of the 2nd Buffer Fringe Performing Arts Festival- evaluation committees, negotiations with partners, embassies, groups, as well actively providing marketing to the highest standards.
  • Work with the Manager and team to identify and meet with other stakeholders, key figures, interested individuals and organizations in order to develop areas of cooperation related to the Home
  • Write all press releases, bi-monthly newsletter and blog content based on the appropriate language used by the organization. (Coordination and time management is crucial as the Communication Officer will need to seek advance help for translations in Greek/Turkish-written communications will be carried out in 3 languages.)
  • Collaborate with the Program Officer on website management, content writing and web-mastering.
  • Coordinate and participate in conferences, seminars, programs and networking events as necessary, to provide/obtain information or build relationships between international and Cypriot groups related to the Home for Cooperation.
  • Archive and maintain a record of all communication material, media clippings.
  • Prepare reports for allocated tasks according to donor guidelines.
  • Develop and monitor work plan based on agreed timelines with Manager, always ensuring delivery of outputs is on target and of highest standards.
  • Enhance the identity of the Home and its vision and values internally and externally.
  • Oversee all communication tools and circulation/dissemination of communication products, newsletter, branding items, press releases, videos, blogs, merchandise and souvenirs.
  • Manage the production, coordination and recruit of topics and speakers for the notion of H4C TV.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carry out additional tasks as required within the course of the project, such as collecting quotes, organizing offers, provide support to other team members.
  • Attend and participate in weekly team meetings.
  • Provide support to the project team, in ensuring all Home events taking place at the Home for Cooperation run smoothly.
  • Complete the necessary personnel documentation (progress report, timesheets etc.) pertaining to his/her contract ensuring they are submitted to the Finance Officer in a timely manner.
  • Carry out any additional duties as assigned by his/her supervisor.
  • Perfect verbal and written English.
  • Perfect verbal and written Turkish.

Salary: €1,076 gross monthly

General Duties and Responsibilities:

The Operations Officer will be responsible primarily to maintain a flawless and accurate book-keeping system for the project “Home for Cooperation”, hereby referred to as the Home. The main duties involve administration, archiving, invoicing, payments and receipts in a timely and efficient manner. The Operations Officer will be the main point of contact with all internal and external stakeholders related to financial matters.  His/her activities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Have the sole responsibility to manage invoicing procedures for bookings, workshops, merchandise, catering and resident NGOs.
  • Have the sole responsibility to manage payment procedural documents and write cheques to suppliers, partners, instructors, and staff. 
  • Maintain complete worksheets for all activities of the Home.
  • Develop accurately and completely all necessary MOUs, tenders and procedural documents for new projects.
  • Organize and archive paperwork, complete forms to UN and other official bodies, letters, invitations, documentation and electronic information related to all projects and activities of the Home.
  • Communicate regularly with manager and café supervisor on café’s financial status and cash flow in order to management budgets and healthy financial flow. 
  • Communicate regularly with manager and program officer on the financial status and cash flow of the overall project and all programs.
  • Responsible for following up and receiving pending payments.
  • Handle sensitive financial information internally with manager, externally with accountant, government bodies and banking institution.
  • Ensure financial functions and admin procedures are always up to standard.
  • Carry out translation requirements for press releases and other communication material and answering of phone calls as part of daily work day.  
  • Provide support to team in event planning on administration and coordination.
  • Create internal financial reports and complete the necessary quarterly reports to the donors.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities may also include:

  • Carry out additional tasks as required within the course of the Home, such as collecting quotes, organizing offers, assisting with events, provide support to other team members.
