Globalisation Studies Groningen, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Rijeka, Montclair State University, and Pomona College with support from the EU Center of California, are delighted to announce our fifth annual Summer School on Transitional Justice and the Politics of Memory, which will be held on the island of Cres, Croatia from 3 – 13 July 2017.
This intensive 10-day summer school will explore transitional justice and the politics of memory in the context of the Mediterranean region alongside a number of comparative perspectives from elsewhere in the globe. In addition to the academic program, which will include an international panel of experts, this course will also include films, excursions, and guest lectures from leading transitional justice practitioners.
Transitional Justice and Memory themes covered include:
  • Introduction to Transitional Justice
  • Criminal Justice and Accountability
  • Memory (Memorialization and Commemorative Practices)
  • Oral Histories and Truth Commissions
  • Lustration
The total fee, including tuition (5 ECTS credits), lunch and ten nights accommodation in a seaside hostel, for this summer school is €800.
