Transitional justice round-table

Friday 3 July  – 12:00- 14:00
Geneva Academy, Villa Moynier
Room Antonio Cassese, Rue de Lausanne 120 B, 1204 Geneva

This roundtable will be dedicated to a topic that is currently the focus of controversial debates: the question of the relation between transitional justice, the international fight against impunity, and economic, social and cultural rights (ESCR). The discussion will be introduced by Dr. Evelyne Schmid, University of Basel, who will present her new book ‘Taking Social, Economic and Cultural Rights Seriously in International Criminal Law’.

The book, published by Cambridge University Press, critically explores the question of whether the neglect of economic, social and cultural abuses in international criminal law is a problem of positive international law or the result of choices made by actors involved in mechanisms such as criminal prosecutions or truth commissions.
