Youth Creating Historical Narratives

The International Committee of the Red Cross has released a challenge to young people around the world: to try out citizen journalism in memory of the Battle of Solferino.
The Battle of Solferino was the last major battle in human history during which each army fought under the direct command of its monarchical ruler. The battle was witnessed by well-known Swiss author Henry Dunant, inspiring him to write A Memory of Solferino, which many believe to be the first piece to fall into the citizen journalism genre. Dunant went on to found what would become the ICRC. The ICRC’s competition is intended to promote creative writing and interest in world history in young people.
