2015 is a critical year for the political and social development of Myanmar. National elections are scheduled to be held in November, and could either boost the current political reforms or solidify rule by the remnants of the military regime.

We welcome papers addressing any of the following themes:

(i) Political development and democratization in Myanmar, political liberalization, elections, universal suffrage;

(ii) Prospects for transitional justice in Myanmar and lessons from transitional countries;

(iii) Ethnic and sectarian conflict, national reconciliation programmes, interfaith marriage laws;

(iv) The position of Myanmar in South East Asia and the world; economic and political integration;

(v) Cultural and social development, art, and religion.

Deadline: Please send an abstract of 200-300 words to both conference organizers by 30 September 2015.

The conference organizers will cover two nights of accommodation for oversees participants. Participants from Myanmar or other less developed countries may also apply for travel subsidies.
